Ausgehend von der historischen Rekonstruktion stellt sich die systematische Frage, welchen Gewinn Luthers Theologie für die Deutung und Bewältigung von Angst als Phänomen menschlichen Lebens erbringt. Dabei bezieht sich Thorsten Dietz auf theologische Interpretationen der Angst im 20. Jahrhundert sowie auf unterschiedliche psychologische Perspektiven der Gegenwart.
