Eviction Law
A landlord who wants to evict a resident before the tenant's lease or rental agreement has expired must have cause, or a valid legal reason. The most common causes for eviction are the tenant failing to pay rent or violating the lease or rental agreement. However, the landlord can also evict the tenant for committing violent acts or drug-related activity at the rental unit. The first step in the eviction process is for the landlord to terminate the tenancy. Usually, this is done by the landlord giving notice to the tenant. The type of notice required will be determined by the reason for the eviction.

Property Management Law
Property managers are responsible for many aspects of their home maintenance. This can include rent and security deposit collections. It can also include filing vacancies when the property is empty as well.
Property management is not just about collecting rent. To be a successful property manager, you must have a strong understanding of the dozens of laws that affect both your property and its residents. From ensuring compliance with Fair Housing, to knowing all the ins and outs of the Uniform Residential Landlord Tenant Act, it is incumbent upon landlords to always act in the best interest of their residents.
At The Law Office of Jennifer McCoy, Jennifer and her team stays current on the various property management laws to ensure that our clients are receiving the best possible legal representation, so that they are well-protected against any potential legal issues.
